Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Science (GIS)
Center for Remote Sensing and Mapping Science
The Center for Remote Sensing and Mapping Science (CRMS) within the UGA Department of Geography undertakes interdisciplinary research involving the use of remote sensing, photogrammetry, GIS, and GPS technologies for many environmental applications such as detailed vegetation mapping, natural and cultural database development, 3D terrain modeling, spatial analysis, and geovisualization. Cooperative research with CRMS Associated Scientists includes assistance with social science database development, wildlife disease studies, ecology of infectious disease, participatory GIS in anthropology, image analysis for geological exploration, mobile mapping and natural resource decision support.

Natural Resource Spatial Analysis Laboratory (NARSAL)
The Natural Resources Spatial Analysis Laboratory is located at the Institute of Ecology on the University of Georgia campus in Athens. The mission of NARSAL is to conduct research, training and public service and outreach in the application of geospatial technology to natural resource management and planning. Our goal is to bring ecological science to the environmental policy arena. NARSAL serves as a resource for the natural resources research community throughout the University System of Georgia.
